Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh is all set to begin filming for the much-awaited war drama Border 2, alongside Bollywood veteran Sunny Deol. According to recent reports, the film will go on floors in June 2025, marking the start of a grand sequel to the iconic 1997 war film Border.
Directed by Anurag Singh, the sequel is said to be mounted on a much larger scale and will commemorate the spirit of patriotism and valor of Indian soldiers. The film is expected to revolve around another significant war chapter in Indian history, though the makers have kept the plot tightly under wraps.
Sunny Deol, who played the unforgettable Major Kuldip Singh in the original Border, will reprise his role in a more senior capacity, possibly as a mentor or commander. Diljit Dosanjh, fresh off the success of his international music collaborations and acclaimed performances in films like Chamkila, is said to portray a brave young soldier fighting on the frontlines.

“The team has been working on the script for over a year. Diljit and Sunny have both given their dates for a long outdoor schedule starting June. The shoot will take place in Rajasthan and parts of Punjab to recreate battlefield settings.”
Produced by JP Dutta’s daughter Nidhi Dutta and Bhushan Kumar under the T-Series and JP Films banners, Border 2 will blend high-octane action, emotional depth, and powerful music — just like its predecessor. Reports suggest that the film’s music will be curated by a blend of veterans and contemporary artists, with a special patriotic track already being planned featuring both Sunny and Diljit.
Fans of both actors are excited about this powerful pairing. Sunny Deol’s nationalistic fervor on screen and Diljit’s natural charm and intensity are expected to deliver an emotionally charged performance.
If all goes as planned, Border 2 is slated for a grand release in mid-2026, just in time for the 29th anniversary of the original film.
Stay tuned for more updates as filming begins this June.
